Aguilar scored the only goal for Lens, though it did little to ease the weight of the defeat. The home crowd responded by whistling their own team as they left the pitch.

The victory moved Como into fourth place in the single league phase standings with nine points, effectively securing a spot in the Champions League playoffs.

Douvikas became the first player for an Italian club since Alessandro Del Piero to score in his first four Champions League appearances. Papaccioli scored on his debut for the club.

Fabregas's side sent a clear message to Inter with the dominant performance. The result marked a record eight goals scored by an away team in Champions League history.
