Turkish Kickboxer Yiğit Şişman Wins World Title in Italy

Turkish national athlete Yiğit Şişman won the gold medal at the Kickboxing World Championships held in Italy. Competing for the Kastamonu Thai Boxing Ayyıldız Sports Club, Şişman defeated opponents from China, Slovenia, and Uzbekistan by identical 3-0 scores to reach the final.

In the championship match, Şişman beat his Israeli rival 3-0 to secure the world title. The Turkish flag was raised and the National Anthem played during the podium ceremony. This victory adds to his eight Turkish championships, a European silver medal, and a 2025 Muay Thai World Championship bronze.

“The final opponent being Israeli placed a heavy burden on us; thank God our champion defeated him 3-0 and became world champion.”

Upon returning to Kastamonu Airport, Şişman received a jubilant welcome from family, political representatives, and citizens waving flags and flowers. His mother Seyhan and father İmdat Şişman shared emotional moments as the crowd carried the champion on their shoulders.

Coach Bekir Bakari Shukakidze described the final against the Israeli athlete as carrying a heavy burden, expressing pride that Şişman won decisively. The coach thanked the club, family, and the nation for their support throughout the tournament.
