Turkey's 'Terror-Free' Executive Committee Holds Second Meeting

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced that the Executive Committee overseeing the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process will convene its second session on September 28 at the Presidential Complex. The meeting, scheduled for 09:30 local time, will be closed to the press.

Yilmaz detailed the structure of four sub-commissions established under the committee. These bodies are tasked with legal and judicial affairs, social cohesion and integration, field monitoring, and disarmament with strategic coordination respectively.

“There is no third country, no third eye in this process. Our process is a Turkey model; the overseer is the Turkish Grand National Assembly itself.”

The Vice President emphasized that the process follows a strictly domestic 'Turkey model' excluding third-party countries or observers. He stated that the Turkish Grand National Assembly itself will oversee the proceedings.

Yilmaz outlined a two-phase legal framework. The first phase requires the PKK to disband completely and surrender weapons, with verification by state institutions and ratification by the National Security Council. The second phase, involving specific legal processes, will not begin until the first is fully confirmed.

The inaugural meeting held last month included key ministers such as Justice Minister Akın Gürk, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, and National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler. Intelligence Chief İbrahim Kalın and senior presidential aides also attended to finalize the committee's operating procedures.
