The Jeddah-based club had also pursued Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa but could not reach an agreement with the Rotterdam side.
All five Dutch outlets reported the identical outcome: Wijnaldum joins Al-Ittihad while Hadj Moussa remains at Feyenoord.
