Alianza Lima drew 1-1 away to Juan Pablo II on Sunday in the eighth round of Peru's 2026 Torneo Clausura. The match took place at the Complejo Deportivo Juan Pablo II in Chongoyape before a capacity crowd of 3,000.
Juan Pablo II struck first when Matías Almirón capitalised on a goalkeeping error by Alejandro Duarte in the 33rd minute. Alianza responded quickly, with Eryc Castillo levelling the score in the 43rd minute after driving into the penalty area.
The result leaves Alianza in seventh place with 13 points, four points behind the league leaders. Before kick-off, the side had 12 points and trailed the summit by the same margin.
Coach Pablo Guede was without top scorer Paolo Guerrero, who missed the game with a thigh tear suffered against Deportivo Garcilaso. Kevin Quevedo also remained sidelined for another week.
