Antalya and Adana Wildfires Mostly Contained Amid Ongoing Risks

Forest fires that erupted in Antalya's Aksu district and Adana's Kozan district have been largely brought under control, though risks remain due to weather conditions. The Antalya blaze, which began on September 7 in the Karaöz neighborhood, spread to Kepez and Döşemealtı districts under the influence of strong winds.

Governor Hulusi Şahin stated that the fire's intensity had decreased. Authorities deployed over 1,000 personnel, alongside aircraft, fire trucks, and water tenders, to combat the flames while State Hydraulic Works machinery cleared forest roads.

“We are on the field with all our strength using our Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and ASAT teams. We even deployed our newly purchased fire trucks without waiting for their license plates.”

Evacuations were carried out across multiple neighborhoods, displacing hundreds of residents and livestock. According to official statements, dozens of citizens were affected by smoke, with several individuals transferred to hospitals for treatment.

Power outages affected thousands of households in the region, prompting the deployment of mobile base stations and AFAD coordination trucks. Roads including the Northern Ring Road and the Antalya-Isparta highway were temporarily closed as a safety precaution.

Meanwhile, in Adana, fires starting in Kozan spread to İmamoğlu and Aladağ districts. Although the energy of the flames in both Antalya and Adana has been reduced, authorities warn that high temperatures and low humidity maintain the wildfire risk.
