Ayuso attacks Sánchez over Ceuta in Madrid region debate

Isabel Díaz Ayuso opened the final State of the Region debate of the legislature with a direct assault on Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. She accused him of deliberate abandonment of Ceuta during what she called Morocco's "invasion" last year.

Ayuso cited newly declassified CNI and National Police reports that she says incriminate Sánchez for ignoring advance warnings of the Ceuta crisis. She warned of a coming "judicial trajectory" for the Prime Minister over his inaction.

The Madrid president twisted Sánchez's own words from Congress a day earlier, when he told Vox leader Santiago Abascal: "I may be a dog, but I have no master." Ayuso replied: "He who calls himself a dog does have an owner, like all those who live in palaces."

Left-wing parliamentary groups had tried to focus the debate on the "Chamberí penthouse" controversy and demanded Ayuso's resignation. She ignored those attacks and kept her fire trained on Sánchez.

Government Delegate Francisco Martín, Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, PP Secretary General Miguel Tellado, and former Regional Presidents Joaquín Leguina and Esperanza Aguirre attended the session.
