Fenerbahce General Assembly Approves Former Board Discharge Amid Debt Dispute

Fenerbahce held its Ordinary Financial General Assembly at the Ulker Sports and Event Hall on September 27, covering the March 1 to May 31, 2026 period. Audit Committee Chairman Mehmet Vodina reported total assets of 26.4 billion lira against total liabilities of 27.8 billion lira.

The club's total debt decreased by approximately 140 million lira compared to the 27.96 billion lira reported at the High Council Board meeting in early August 2026. Short-term liabilities stood at 17.2 billion lira and long-term liabilities at 10.5 billion lira.

“This year we will make this team champions, you will see. Next year I will leave the presidency after making them champions.”

The assembly discharged the Sadettin Saran-era board by majority vote for the specified period. Current President Aziz Yildirim urged unity and announced the board would vote in favor of the discharge.

A heated exchange erupted between Yildirim and former board member Ilker Alkun. Yildirim accused the previous management of financial mismanagement, prompting Alkun to counter that the current administration inherited a 79 million euro interest burden over two years and that debt accumulated over 25 years.

Yildirim also cited a 6 million euro solidarity payment for the En-Nesyri transfer made by the current board, claiming the prior management took 8 million euros. Vice President Baris Gokturk stated total debt in euro terms rose from 398 million euros in May 2024 to 592 million euros by September 21, 2025.

Yildirim pledged to deliver a league championship this season and said he would step down after achieving that goal next year. The assembly also highlighted sporting successes across football, basketball, volleyball, and wheelchair basketball during the recent period.
