Fulham beat Manchester United 1-0 after Martinez own goal

Fulham secured a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Craven Cottage thanks to a 63rd-minute own goal by Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine defender turned a saved shot from Calvin Bassey into his own net under pressure, handing the hosts their first league win of the campaign.

Manchester United dominated possession in the first half but failed to convert chances, with Marcus Rashford missing a clear opportunity just before the break. United goalkeeper Samuel Lammens made several saves to keep the score level at half-time.

“There's a kind of a chance on both of them, really. Not totally 100% yet, but there's half a chance, yeah.”

The result leaves Manchester United 14th in the Premier League table with four points from five matches. Fulham climb off the bottom with four points, leapfrogging their opponents on goal difference ahead of the international break.

United manager Michael Carrick had expressed hope pre-match that Luke Shaw and new signing Carlos Baleba might feature, but neither appeared in the starting line-up. The defeat extends United's winless run and increases pressure on Carrick before the pause in fixtures.
