Hidden Camera Found in İzmir Gym Shower; Owner Alleges Rival Sabotage

A female member identified as H.C. spotted a hidden camera lens inside the shower area of the SlimShape fitness center in İzmir's Karşıyaka district and recorded the device with her phone before going to the police. An investigation was launched after she filed a formal complaint.

Owner Rüya Doğan Arsalı, who has operated the business for about ten months, said she was not on site when the incident occurred. Arsalı stated that staff noticed a person acting suspiciously and filming, then immediately called the police to the premises while keeping even their own employees outside.

“The probability that the device was newly placed here is very high. We have a brand rival and our first suspicion is them.”

Officers who first responded searched the changing room but found nothing. After reviewing the member's footage at the police station, investigators returned with Arsalı and located a small lens during a detailed secondary sweep.

Arsalı claimed the device was planted recently as part of a deliberate "brand assassination" by a rival company. She alleged the competitor had previously run smear campaigns on social media and suggested the camera was placed by the person who filmed it or an accomplice.
