Jaguars rout Patriots 35-6 as Maye struggles with three turnovers

The Jacksonville Jaguars rebounded from their worst offensive showing in nearly a year to crush the New England Patriots 35-6 at EverBank Stadium on Sunday. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes, including a fingertip grab by Parker Washington, as Jacksonville won its sixth straight regular-season home game.

New England quarterback Drake Maye continued his early-season slump, fumbling twice and throwing two interceptions before being replaced by Tommy DeVito in the fourth quarter. Maye has now thrown just one touchdown against six interceptions through three games after totaling 31 touchdowns and eight picks all of last season.

“I think he knows what to do. I think we have to do it better. We all want to make plays. We just have to make them good ones. And if it's not there, we have to make good decisions... we can't force anything.”

The Jaguars defense forced three takeaways, highlighted by rookie cornerback Travis Hunter's first career interception on a third-and-goal play. Jarrian Jones added a pick that set up another Jacksonville score, while DaVon Hamilton recovered Maye's first-quarter fumble.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged the quarterback's struggles but expressed confidence in Maye's understanding of the offense. "I think he knows what to do. I think we have to do it better," Vrabel said, adding that the team cannot force plays when they are not there.

Maye took personal responsibility for the offensive failures, saying he needs to look in the mirror and stop getting in his own way. The Patriots have scored only nine points combined in their two losses this season and face mounting questions at the quarterback position.

Jacksonville running back Bhayshul Tuten rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, emerging as the team's lead back. The Jaguars (2-1) now begin an extended road stretch with their next home game not scheduled until November.
