Justice Minister Akın Gürlek attended the judicial year opening program organized by the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2 at Istanbul University. During his speech, he emphasized that the Ministry and bar associations maintain strong communication channels.
Gürlek announced that a 50 percent discount will be applied to the gun license fee for lawyers, which is currently around 189,000 liras. He stated that agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, and renewals will be free of charge.

The regulation regarding gun license fees is planned to be included in the legislative package coming to the agenda in October. Licenses are issued for a period of five years.
Addressing international issues, Gürlek criticized Western countries regarding human rights. He stated that Western approaches to universal legal values have lost credibility, especially concerning the situation in Palestine and Gaza.
Gürlek also touched upon the judicial processes, stating that judges and prosecutors must strictly comply with the target duration for trials. He emphasized that lawyers have the right to know when a filed lawsuit will conclude.
