Lautaro Martinez Brace Rescues 2-2 Draw for Inter at Roma

Roma and Inter played out a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday in a clash between the only two teams with perfect records in Serie A this season. The match served as an early indicator of the title race, with both sides unbeaten after four rounds.

Roma dominated the first half and led 2-0 at the break thanks to a brace from Manu Kone. The French midfielder opened the scoring in the fifth minute after a knockdown from Nahuel Molina, then added a second in the 37th minute following a VAR review that overturned an initial offside flag.

“There is a lot of positivity in this side, both teams could've won it. This match must give us confidence going forward.”

Inter turned the game around after the interval, inspired by captain Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine striker pulled one back less than a minute into the second half, finishing a counter-attack involving Marcus Thuram. He then levelled the score in the 79th minute with a powerful volley from a rebound after his header struck the crossbar.

Both teams paid tribute to Inter legend Sandro Mazzola, who died aged 83 the previous night, observing a minute's silence and with the visitors wearing black armbands. Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini praised the positivity in his squad, stating the performance must give them confidence moving forward.
