PASOK's Tsoukalas Brands Mitsotakis Press Conference 'Unreliability, Arrogance, Deception'

PASOK spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas issued a blistering response to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's press conference, labeling it a 'triptych of unreliability, arrogance, and deception.' He argued the 2023–2027 term has become 'four years of lost opportunities and widening inequalities' rather than a development era.

Tsoukalas cited data placing Greek purchasing power last in the EU, productivity last in the eurozone, and third-from-bottom in the OECD. He accused Mitsotakis of downplaying the 'quiet waters' policy with Turkey, saying it gave Ankara cover for revisionist aims under the guise of good intentions, and asked why Athens does not seek EU sanctions against Turkey.

The PASOK spokesperson also targeted the OPEKEPE scandal, noting that Mitsotakis's own appointees were convicted while the prime minister dismissed it as a 'reformist failure.' Tsoukalas warned the country faces a fine near €1 billion for what he called 'party corruption.'

Tsoukalas charged that Mitsotakis has turned the Constitution and parliamentary rules into 'rubber,' built a 'para-state' through wiretaps, and weaponised his parliamentary majority to shield ministers from accountability. He drew parallels with the SYRIA era, calling Mitsotakis and former premier Alexis Tsipras 'twin moons' on justice manipulation and institutional decay.

Finally, Tsoukalas suggested Mitsotakis review his father Konstantinos Mitsotakis's 1990–1993 premiership, during which public debt jumped from 69.9% to 111.6% of GDP in three years, if he questions the current debt trajectory.
