Pope Leo XIV Announces Peru Visit Schedule for November 11-16

Pope Leo XIV will visit Peru from November 11 to 16, traveling to Lima, Chiclayo, Santa Cruz de Succhabamba, Cusco, and Pucallpa. The Peruvian Episcopal Conference released the official program on Sunday, detailing daily events across the five cities. The trip marks the pontiff's first return to the country since his election, where he served 25 years and holds citizenship.

The visit begins in Lima with a welcome ceremony at the Government Palace and a meeting with President Dina Boluarte. The Pope will address authorities and civil society at the Gran Teatro Nacional before meeting Peruvian bishops at the Archbishop's Palace. A prayer vigil with youth is scheduled at the Monumental Stadium.

On November 13, the Pope flies to Chiclayo, where he was known as Father Roberto while leading the local diocese. He will celebrate Mass at Pampas de Pimentel and make a private visit to the Chapel of San Óscar A. Romero. An afternoon meeting with clergy follows at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace.

The next day, a helicopter will take the pontiff to Santa Cruz de Succhabamba in Cajamarca for a morning Mass. He returns to Chiclayo for a coronation ceremony of the Immaculate Virgin at the Cathedral. The itinerary continues to Cusco and Pucallpa before concluding on November 16.

Peru's state broadcaster IRTP will serve as the official signal for global transmission of all events. The government highlighted the announcement, while local estimates suggest the visit could mobilize significant economic activity.
