Prescott Breaks Record as Cowboys Beat Commanders; Daniels Dislocates Elbow

Dallas defeated Washington 37-20 on Sunday, improving to 1-1 on the season. Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes, bringing his career total to 249 and breaking the franchise record of 248 held by Tony Romo since 2016. CeeDee Lamb caught two of those scores and finished with 153 receiving yards, while tight end Jake Ferguson added the other two touchdown receptions.

The game's defining moment came seconds before halftime. With Washington at the Dallas 1-yard line trailing 17-10, left guard Chris Paul stepped on Jayden Daniels' foot as he dropped back. Daniels' non-throwing left elbow bent awkwardly as he braced for a fall, an injury later confirmed as a dislocation — the third such occurrence for the same elbow since his rookie season. He was carted off with a towel over his head and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Before the injury, Daniels had completed 11 of 17 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown while adding 69 rushing yards on seven carries. Marcus Mariota replaced him at quarterback for the second half. Commanders coach Dan Quinn said X-rays showed no fracture and that Daniels would travel home with the team for further imaging on Monday.

Dallas' offense generated 266 passing yards but managed only 66 rushing yards, continuing a trend from the season opener against the Giants when the Cowboys totaled 69 yards on the ground. The running game has averaged 3.8 yards per carry through two weeks.
