Ravens edge Cowboys 34-31 on Loop's 56-yard field goal in Rio

Baltimore defeated Dallas 34-31 on Sunday at the Maracana in the NFL's first regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro before an announced crowd of 72,792. The Ravens improved to 2-1 while the Cowboys fell to 1-2.

The game featured multiple lead changes in the final minutes. Derrick Henry rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns for Baltimore, but was stopped on fourth-and-inches at the goal line in the fourth quarter.

“Everyone was on the same timing. The line did a great job protecting, Zay ran a great route and I just had to deliver the baby.”

Dallas took a 28-24 lead on KaVontae Turpin's 9-yard touchdown run with under 10 minutes remaining. Jackson then hit rookie tight end Matt Hibner for a 2-yard score to put Baltimore ahead 31-28 with 1:30 left.

A pass-interference call on Nate Wiggins gave Dallas the ball at the Baltimore 2-yard line. After a false-start penalty, Brandon Aubrey tied the game at 31 with a 23-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining.

On the ensuing drive, Jackson completed a 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers and immediately called timeout with one second left. Tyler Loop then connected on a 56-yard field goal as time expired.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer called the loss painful after the long trip. Ravens coach Jesse Minter praised Jackson's clock awareness and the unit's preparation for the situation.
