Ryan Garcia defends WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn in Las Vegas

Ryan Garcia puts his WBC welterweight championship on the line against British challenger Conor Benn on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout headlines a Zuffa Boxing card timed for the Mexican Independence Day holiday weekend.

Garcia, 25-2 with one no-contest, won the belt from Mario Barrios on February 21, 2026. He enters off a controversial 2024 no-contest against Devin Haney and has vowed not to lose the title on American soil. At a heated press conference, Garcia challenged Benn to wager their fight purses.

“I will not allow the European challenger to take my world championship on American soil under any circumstances.”

Benn, 25-1, arrives after stopping former champion Regis Prograis in April. The Briton typically walks near 185 pounds and has fought at middleweight, making the cut to the 147-pound welterweight limit a significant question mark. He served a suspension in 2023 for a positive drug test.

The co-main event features Jai Opetaia versus Noel Mikaelian for the Zuffa Boxing and Ring cruiserweight titles. Mark Magsayo faces Andres Cortes in a lightweight bout on the undercard.
