Seahawks Beat Patriots 13-10 After Sam Darnold Injury

The Seattle Seahawks faced an early scare in their Week 1 game against the New England Patriots when starting quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury on the opening drive. Darnold limped off the field following a third-down sack by Dre’Mont Jones and went to the locker room.

Backup quarterback Drew Lock took over the offense, which struggled through the first three quarters and managed only a single field goal. The Patriots capitalized in the first half when Eli Raridon caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Drake Maye following a pass interference penalty.

Trailing 10-0, the Seahawks mounted a fourth-quarter comeback sparked by their defense. Nehemiah Pritchett intercepted Maye, setting up a 45-yard touchdown pass from Lock to Jaxon Smith-Njigba on fourth-and-1 to tie the game.

Julian Love intercepted Maye on the ensuing drive, leading to a 26-yard field goal by Jason Myers that gave Seattle a 13-10 lead. Josh Jobe secured the victory with a toe-tapping interception in the end zone in the final minute after Maye drove the Patriots into scoring position.
