Trabzonspor signs Thomas Reis on two-year deal

Trabzonspor appointed German manager Thomas Reis on a two-year contract following the departure of Fatih Tekke. The 52-year-old arrived in Trabzon on 15 September and signed at Papara Park two days later. Vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas said Reis had been on the club's radar for a year and praised his willingness to join within 24 hours, unlike other candidates who requested delays.

Reis previously coached Samsunspor in the Super Lig and most recently led Bulgarian side Ludogorets, winning seven of 11 matches. He takes charge immediately with a home derby against Galatasaray looming at the weekend. The new manager said he has no fear of big matches and wants to start preparing the team straight away.

“If you are afraid of playing big matches, you should not be here. Therefore I have absolutely no fear. I wanted to come immediately and play the match together with the team.”

Reis is set to reunite with athletic performance coach Fatih Yildiz, who worked with him at Samsunspor. Yildiz bid farewell to Samsunspor after three seasons, and the club thanked him for his contribution to their historic third-place finish. His move to Trabzonspor is expected to be confirmed shortly.
