Trump's Peace Board Unveils $2.45B Gaza Reconstruction Plan

A recovery board chaired by Donald Trump presented a $2.45 billion, six-month plan for Gaza's reconstruction and governance on Tuesday. The proposal, previewed by Axios and confirmed by Reuters, outlines 66 projects across six sectors including infrastructure, housing, healthcare, and security.

The largest allocation of $1 billion targets infrastructure, with $400 million earmarked for insulated temporary housing to move displaced families out of tents. The United Arab Emirates would fund a pilot "Emirates Neighborhood" in Rafah for 50,000 residents.

“Our mission is arduous and the work ahead will not be easy, but with the strong support of our international partners, including the UAE, the EU and others, we are confident we can succeed.”

Debris and unexploded ordnance removal is budgeted at $275 million, while hospital rehabilitation and road repairs receive $50 million and $30 million respectively. Security-related projects account for approximately $885 million, including a multinational force deployment.

The plan was developed over nearly a year by international experts, the 28-member board, and a Palestinian technocratic committee. U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were set to present the details at a meeting attended by representatives from 35 nations, including EU observers.

However, the funds are not yet secured, and Reuters could not independently verify the document's details. Significant uncertainty remains regarding the cooperation of both Israel and Hamas, which is essential for implementation.
