Turkey Identifies 18 Social Media Accounts After Manisa School Attack

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that 18 social media accounts were identified after the armed attack at a school in Manisa's Turgutlu district. Six domestic accounts were found sharing attack-related content, while 12 others — 11 domestic and one foreign-based — were flagged for provocative and disinformative posts.

The Ministry's Cybercrime Department, using AI-supported monitoring, referred the accounts to provincial police, public order, intelligence, and security units for legal action. Authorities also requested the removal and blocking of 47 specific URLs in coordination with Manisa police.

“We will not allow dark hands to gain passage in the cyber homeland either.”

Çiftçi stated that a social media post calling for gatherings in Ankara, İzmir, and İstanbul was detected, prompting notifications to the relevant provincial security directorates. The minister vowed zero tolerance for attempts to exploit the tragedy for provocation or disinformation.
