UK Urges Food Stockpiling as Europe Warns of Russian Hybrid Threats

The United Kingdom has advised households to store food and water as part of a national resilience campaign covering war, cyberattacks, and extreme weather. The BBC reported the guidance alongside work on an updated "war book" contingency plan. Chief of the Defence Staff Sir Richard Knighton called the current security environment the most dangerous of his 35-year career.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told lawmakers that intelligence from NATO allies and Ukraine indicates Russia could launch hybrid drone and missile strikes against countries supporting Ukraine. Germany's defence leadership has also demanded faster military expansion, accusing Moscow of increasing capacity and using hybrid methods to destabilise Western societies.

French President Emmanuel Macron warned of intensifying Russian hybrid threats against Europe, while Polish President Karol Nawrocki vowed never to surrender the homeland. Retired Turkish Intelligence Colonel Coşkun Başbuğ dismissed the alarm as a perception operation. He argued Russia lacks the military and economic power for a land invasion of Europe while bogged down in Ukraine and reliant on North Korean troops. Başbuğ attributed the panic to arms dealers, London-based provocations, and a US expansion strategy.
