Ukraine launches largest drone attack on Moscow, kills two

Ukraine launched its largest drone attack of the war against the Moscow region early Sunday, targeting a major oil refinery and logistics facilities. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defences intercepted 450 drones heading for the capital, while regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov put the total intercepted at over 1,600. At least two people were killed and 20 injured, including children, when debris struck residential buildings in Sofrino and Orekhovo-Zuyevo. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike, stating it caused damage worth billions of dollars to infrastructure supporting Russia's war machine. The attack coincided with the final day of Russia's parliamentary elections, which analysts say was intended to demonstrate the war's reach to Russian voters. Russian officials said missiles were also used but were all shot down. Analysts warn Russia will likely retaliate with increased missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure ahead of a difficult winter.
