Belsat is an independent television channel broadcasting in Belarusian and Russian from Poland. It reaches audiences inside Belarus by satellite and internet and is one of the principal sources carrying developments there to the outside world.

The Belarusian authorities have banned the channel and prosecuted its correspondents; cases in which journalists working for it received prison sentences have been documented in international reports. Its funding comes from Polish public sources, which readers are best placed knowing.
