24 Horas is the news service of TVN — Televisión Nacional de Chile — the country's public broadcaster. TVN is state-owned but has its editorial independence set out in law and must generate its own revenue, a hybrid structure distinctive in Latin America.
Chile's exposure to earthquakes and tsunamis has led the corporation to develop particular capacity in disaster coverage.
