39th Ahi Week Celebrated in Çorum and Kırşehir

The 39th Ahi Week was celebrated in Çorum on September 17-18 and concluded in Kırşehir on September 20 with a ceremony attended by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. In Çorum, a cortege marched from Kadesh Peace Square to Liberty Square followed by speeches from local tradesmen leaders. ÇESOB President Recep Gür described the Ahi tradition as a cultural heritage encompassing honesty, trust, and lawful earnings.

In Kırşehir, Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek and Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş addressed the closing ceremony at Çacabey Square. Kurtulmuş defined Ahi culture as one of the nation's most vital arteries, linking it to the roots of Turkey's work and trade ethics. Awards were presented to the year's Ahi masters, foremen, and apprentices during the event.

Officials in both cities emphasized that the Ahi organization is not merely a professional guild but a moral framework guiding social solidarity. Governor Demiryürek noted that the tradition taught loyalty to one's word, accuracy in weights and measures, and caring for those in need. ÇESOB President Gür stated that tradesmen serve as the 'trust gate' of their neighborhoods.
