Kicillof Launches National Movement Amid Peronist Tensions

Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof closed a federal plenary of the Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF) on Saturday at the UTN campus in Villa Domínico, Avellaneda. The event gathered militants and leaders from multiple provinces to expand the movement beyond its Buenos Aires base.

The day began at 11:00 with ten thematic working groups covering education, health, labor, security, and other policy areas. Kicillof delivered the closing address at 15:00, framing the MDF as a collective construction "from the bottom up" rather than a top-down operation.

Kicillof declared he is not interested in a "remote-controlled construction," a direct message to internal rivals. He linked the movement's name to defending rights he says are threatened by President Javier Milei's administration.

A delegation from Mendoza's Justicialist Party attended, including mayors Flor Destéfanis and Emir Andraos, legislators, and union leaders. Notable absences included PJ Mendoza president Emir Félix, Maipú Mayor Matías Stevanato, and several mayors aligned with La Cámpora.

Quilmes Mayor Mayra Mendoza recently accused Kicillof of dividing the Buenos Aires Peronist Party. The MDF presented the Avellaneda meeting as its largest territorial deployment to date, with representatives from Buenos Aires' 135 municipalities and other provinces.
