Larson Wins at Kansas, Takes 26-Point Chase Lead

Kyle Larson reclaimed the lead from Chase Briscoe with seven laps remaining to win the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday. The victory marked Larson's fourth career win at the 1.5-mile oval and his second in the last three races.

Larson dominated much of the event, leading a track-record 235 laps and sweeping the first two stages. However, he lost the lead to Briscoe with 30 laps to go before mounting a late charge to retake the front position.

“I really thought when Chase passed me he was going to drive away, but I found some lanes that allowed me to stabilize and try to save the tires.”

The win expanded Larson's championship lead over Denny Hamlin from one point to 26 points entering the final six races of the playoffs. Austin Cindric finished second, while Hamlin settled for third.

Larson earned the maximum 76 points available for the weekend, including 55 for the win, 20 stage points, and one bonus point for the fastest lap. Christopher Bell trails by 50 points in third, and Joey Logano sits 67 points back.

Rain washed out practice and qualifying earlier in the weekend, setting the lineup by owner points and previous results. Larson started on the front row alongside Joey Logano, an advantage he cited as significant.

The victory tied Larson with Hamlin for the most Cup wins at Kansas with five each. It also moved Larson into a tie for 26th on the all-time wins list with 34 career victories, matching Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr.
