Lida Moniava, founder of the Dom s Mayakom foundation, will resign as director and leave the organisation's board, according to announcements on 6 September. The move is linked to a criminal case against her for allegedly spreading "fakes about the army".
Moniava is currently prohibited from using the internet, so friends posted the statement on her Telegram channel. The foundation provides palliative care for seriously ill children and young adults up to age 30, supporting hospices in Moscow and the Moscow region.
Moniava appealed for continued donor support, warning that the criminal proceedings could trigger a funding exodus. Both The Bell and TASS confirmed her departure from the leadership roles on the same day.
