Locomotive Fire Near Bucharest Temporarily Disrupts Railway Traffic

A fire erupted on the locomotive of a technological train at the Buftea railway station. The incident occurred on track 4, involving a train operated by CFR SA consisting of ballast hopper cars.

To ensure safety during firefighting operations, authorities temporarily cut off power to the contact line. This safety measure affected both tracks along the Periș and Chitila section.

“Under these conditions, railway traffic on the Periș – Chitila section is temporarily affected until the intervention is completed.”

Fire crews were immediately dispatched to the scene to extinguish the flames. Train traffic in the affected area remains temporarily suspended until interventions conclude and technical conditions allow power to be restored.
