Taylor Swift to Debut 'Patient Zero' Video at VMAs with Johnson, Farrell

Taylor Swift will premiere the music video for her new single "Patient Zero" at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27. A 13-second teaser aired Thursday on CBS Mornings showing Swift, Dakota Johnson, and Colin Farrell in a dramatic narrative involving a love triangle and a snowy cemetery scene.

The track arrives Friday as part of "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," an extended edition of her 2025 album featuring four new songs. Swift directed the video herself with cinematography by Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki.

“About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history.”

At the ceremony, Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors recognizing her visual work. The VMAs will simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the US, with global availability the following day.

Swift married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in July, a ceremony Johnson reportedly attended. The singer recently traveled to Sweden to celebrate the original album's record-breaking first week with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.
