A wildfire burning near Konitsa in northwestern Greece entered its seventh day on Sunday, with the active front at Trapezitsa remaining uncontrolled despite a massive deployment of firefighting resources.
One hundred seventy firefighters, nine Forest Commando teams, 65 vehicles, and 13 aircraft are engaged, supported by a drone unit from Epirus for aerial surveillance.
Strong winds have fueled repeated rekindling, prompting authorities to issue an emergency 112 alert early Sunday urging residents in the wider area to stay indoors, seal doors and windows, and follow official instructions.
The fire service described the situation as exceptionally critical, with ground and air crews coordinating daily to contain the flames and protect lives and property.
