BBC Persian

This is the BBC's Persian service. As one of the World Service's broadcasts in more than forty languages, it delivers news produced to British public broadcasting standards to Persian speakers in Iran and in Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

Pressure on its staff in Iran and on their families has been documented in reports by international organisations; the corporation cannot therefore station correspondents inside the country and conducts its journalism from outside using verification methods.

Being part of a licence-fee-funded institution is the principal structural factor keeping the service clear of commercial and governmental pressure.
