United States · English · Not on air right now
Voice of America was created in 1942 during the Second World War and is funded by the United States government. Its founding purpose was to carry an American perspective against Nazi propaganda, and the organisation continued after the war.
Its structure includes a notable provision: statute establishes a "firewall" intended to prevent government interference in its news content. How well that provision works in practice has periodically been debated, and readers are best placed watching with both the state funding and the legal protection in mind.
VOA publishes in many languages and functions as an important source in countries where access to independent news is restricted.
Streams are shown from each broadcaster's own official YouTube channel through the YouTube player; the content and all rights belong to those broadcasters. Montegre does not broadcast or retransmit. Live news coverage may contain distressing footage.
