33rd Adana Golden Boll Film Festival Opens with 210 Films from 23 Countries

The 33rd International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival begins on September 26 and runs through October 4, 2026. Organized by the Adana Metropolitan Municipality, the event will screen 210 films from 154 directors representing 23 countries at the 01 Burda AVM CinemaPink halls. All screenings and side events are free of charge.

A 'World Cinema' selection brings 18 award-winning titles from festivals including Cannes, Venice, Locarno, and Karlovy Vary. Highlights include new works by Paweł Pawlikowski, Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, Pedro Almodóvar, and Na Hong-jin. The lineup also features films by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Marie Kreutzer, and Radu Jude.

Honorary Awards will be presented to director Ferzan Özpetek and actor Vahide Perçin on October 1. The Orhan Kemal Lifetime Achievement Awards go to actor Suna Selen, writer-director Macit Koper, and writer-director-producer Aydın Sayman at the opening ceremony on September 26. The closing and grand prize ceremony is scheduled for October 3.

The festival allocates a total of 8,425,000 Turkish Lira in prize support for filmmakers. The 5th Çukurova Golden Boll Academy runs September 28 to October 2, hosting nearly 200 cinema students from universities across Turkey for workshops, panels, and masterclasses led by industry professionals.

A masterclass with Ferzan Özpetek, moderated by lecturer Akın Kılıç, will cover his career from "Hamam" (1997) to "Diamonds" (2024). A 25th-anniversary screening of Tayfun Pirselimoğlu's "Nowhere" (2002) will be followed by a talk with the director, actor Zuhal Olcay, production designer Natali Yeres, and producer Zeynep Atakan, moderated by Zeynep Ünal.

A panel titled "Storytelling Between Literature and Cinema," moderated by writer Özgür Mumcu, will feature writer Ayfer Tunç, actor Şenay Gürler, and director Tufan Taştan discussing adaptation processes. Technical workshops include documentary shooting with RED V-RAPTOR X cameras.
