Family bids farewell to law student Ivan Baidoo as father vows justice

Family, friends, and former schoolmates gathered at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry's Rehoboth Temple in North Legon on Saturday to bury Ivan Apprey Baidoo, a 20-year-old law student at Central University. Members of the Adisadel Old Boys Association sang the school anthem around the casket in tribute to their former colleague.

Baidoo's father, Evans Baidoo, delivered an emotional address accusing a police officer of brutally murdering his son. "You did not die, son; you were murdered. Brutally murdered by a police officer paid with your parents' taxes to protect you," he said, vowing that the burial would not end his pursuit of justice.

The father stated he was encouraged by steps taken by Ghanaian authorities, though the sources did not specify which actions. The case is currently before the courts as a murder prosecution.

Baidoo's mother also shared a written tribute describing the pain of burying her firstborn son. She recalled his dreams of becoming a lawyer and said the unexplained circumstances surrounding his death made the grief harder to bear, while thanking God for the 20 years they shared.
