A political feud has intensified between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. The friction follows remarks made during the prime minister's press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
In a video statement, Samaras launched a fierce attack against Mitsotakis. He stated that the Mitsotakis family does not decide who harms the political faction, accusing the current prime minister of showing contempt for the people.
“As far as I remember, he himself got 18% in the elections. Nice performance!”
Samaras further claimed that Mitsotakis will remain in history as a leader associated with high costs of living, corruption, and various scandals. He concluded by asserting that New Democracy has transformed into the party of Mitsotakis.
In response, Mitsotakis dismissed any room for political cooperation with Samaras due to the latter's opposition to government policies. Speaking to journalists after the press conference, the prime minister sarcastically recalled Samaras's past electoral performance.
Mitsotakis noted that New Democracy currently functions as a political faction, sarcastically pointing out that Samaras once secured 18 percent in elections. The prime minister also stated that Samaras should focus on protecting his own historical legacy.
