Police in Nicosia have arrested two individuals, aged 41 and 44, following a burglary and theft committed during the month of August. The case involves charges of conspiracy, building burglary, theft, and malicious damage.
The investigation began on September 1, 2026, when a relative of the homeowners reported that unidentified perpetrators broke into the residence. The thieves stole paintings, silverware, and furniture with a total value exceeding 10,000 euros.
Authorities secured arrest warrants based on testimony gathered during the investigation. The 41-year-old suspect was arrested on September 2, and officers seized evidence linked to the stolen property during a search of his home.
The Nicosia District Court ordered an eight-day detention period for the 41-year-old. Meanwhile, the 44-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after midnight and remanded in custody for five days.
The Nicosia CID Burglary Squad is continuing its examinations into the case.
