Trump Visit to Texas-Tennessee Game to Disrupt Coach Communications

President Donald Trump plans to attend Saturday's top-ranked Texas versus No. 14 Tennessee matchup at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. The Secret Service will assume control of the venue on Friday afternoon, and an Air Force One flyover is expected during the game.

University of Tennessee police have warned fans to expect heavy traffic delays around campus. To manage congestion, stadium gates will open one hour earlier than usual.

“Just enjoy the madness that is coming. I don't care which side of the aisle you are on, it's not everyday that the President of the United States is attending the same football game as you.”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said Thursday that coach-to-player headset communication will be disabled whenever the president changes locations inside the stadium. He cited the 2026 national championship game, where Miami lost communication late in the fourth quarter while Trump was present.

Indiana coach Curt Cignetti confirmed the Hoosiers also briefly lost headset access during that game, roughly six minutes before the final whistle. Communication was restored before the ensuing kickoff.

The Longhorns face their first trip to Knoxville since joining the SEC, entering a venue that holds over 100,000 spectators. With normal sideline communication unreliable, Sarkisian stressed that offensive assignments must be finalized before kickoff.
