Underwater Images of Sunken Ship Off Silivri Released

The cargo ship Tuğberk İmamoğlu sank after colliding with the MT Alsu tanker off the coast of Silivri inকেউ the Marmara Sea on September 2 at around 03:00. Ten Turkish crew members aboard the sunken vessel remain missing.
The Turkish Naval Forces' rescue ship TCG Akın located the wreckage at a depth of 720 meters. An underwater remote-controlled vehicle captured the first images of the sea floor, clearly showing the ship's name.

Authorities stated that 18 floating elements, five helicopters, two drones, and one aircraft are participating in the search operations across a 550-square-kilometer area. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and families of the missing crew visited the TCG Akın to receive updates.
Meanwhile, the first and third captains of the Alsu vessel were arrested following the collision. Preliminary expert reports indicated bridge discipline violations and a lack of situational awareness on the Alsu during the incident.
