BBC News is the television arm of one of the largest news organisations in the world. The BBC was founded in 1922; its rolling news channel launched in 1997 as BBC News 24, and in 2023 the domestic channel and the international BBC World News were merged into a single channel. With output reaching more than two hundred countries and a World Service publishing in over forty languages, it is an operation with few equals in scale.

The BBC is funded by a licence fee paid per household, which frees it from advertising revenue and keeps commercial pressure out of the running order. Because the level of that fee is set in negotiation with government, however, the corporation lives inside a permanent argument about political pressure. Its Editorial Guidelines are among the most detailed written standards for accuracy and impartiality in journalism and are used as a reference worldwide.

Its YouTube channel does not carry a continuous live feed; it goes live for major events and special coverage.

Streams are shown from each broadcaster's own official YouTube channel through the YouTube player; the content and all rights belong to those broadcasters. Montegre does not broadcast or retransmit. Live news coverage may contain distressing footage.
